Latest NewsYear 11 Prom photos 2010The Year 11 Prom photos for 2010 have been uploaded to the HP Snapfish website click here to go to the site You will need to logon to the site using the email address Year11Prom2010@shs.wilts.sch.uk and the password salisbury Salisbury High Days and HolidaysWow! What a whirlwind term. Salisbury High has been buzzing. The frenzy of exams over 6th Formers and Year 11 held their respective celebratory proms. How grown up they all looked (well they are, aren’t they!) in all their colourful finery. We wish them well as they take their next steps on life’s winding stairway. Thoughts soon turned from our leavers to extending a warm welcome to our new Year 7s who will join us in September. Our induction is second to none and, as I write, these budding Salisbury High students are spending 4 days in school getting to know their tutors, their way around and each other. A full report will appear in the September issue. Our current Year 7 have just returned from a very exciting and successful trip to France, thanks to the efforts of Mr Corry, Grace Gauld and the Arts Team, our students are exhibiting work in Salisbury Cathedral, Wren Hall and La Mollina (the new tapas restaurant in town), our annual sponsored walk has taken place in aid of our South African link school, SHS won a competition for a water butt, we held our first dance and technical showcase, Years 11 and 12 visited Bath University for a taster day, drama students performed Shakespeare outdoors and Year 7 smashed their end of year targets. As if this didn’t keep staff busy enough, the school launched vertical tutoring and a house system. Instead of tutor groups consisting of a single year group, they now have students from every year group. This system better reflects society, allows for peer mentoring and cross year-group friendships. The students chose names for their new houses based on the subject areas in which the tutor groups are based and each house has a colour (and tie) to identify it. The houses are Escher (blue – Maths/MFL/PE), Nightingale (burgundy – Humanities / Tech / WRL), Austen (green – Arts and English) and Da Vinci (gold - Science / ICT). We look forward to some friendly rivalry! After such a busy term I think the students and staff have earned a rest, don’t you? I hope you all have a wonderful summer and that the sun re-appears, as promised, to provide one of those wonderful English summers that remain in the memory for years to come. Happy holidays! Year 7 students smash end of year English targets!
Well done kids – keep it up!
